As 2020 comes to a close soon, it provides a time to reflect on our progress throughout the year – as individuals, families, businesses and society at large.
Due to all the changes and unpredictability this year, it is no surprise that many people have experienced an increase in stress, anxiety, and overall life changes.
With National Stress Awareness day just passing on November 4th, it provides a chance for us to slow down and care for ourselves before fast-forwarding into the holidays and New Year.
We’ve all heard how self-care is extremely important. We get it – work, kids, and life get in the way sometimes! But never underestimate the healing powers of a good book, a good night’s sleep, or a glass of wine!
One of my favourite ways to de-stress is cooking hearty and nutritious meals for my family from scratch. It feels so rewarding to create something from nothing to provide for those we love.
Outdoor exercise and adventuring in nature are also great stress-relievers.
Who doesn’t love chasing waterfalls?
Even though the cold weather is quickly approaching, there are several winter activities that the beautiful Okanagan terrain makes possible for us such as skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing!
November 17th is National Hiking Day as well which provides the perfect reminder to get some fresh air and enjoy the crisp fall weather while it lasts!
Perhaps you and your family spend a weekend going for a walk on the KVR trail, playing at the park, or simply enjoying each other’s presence.
However you choose to approach this time before the holidays, be sure to tend to yourself, spend time with your loved ones, and have fun while doing it!
