Haynes Point Provincial Park

If you are looking for a place to spend some quality time with your family or friends, taking a trip to Swiws Park (Haynes Point) is one option you shouldn’t joke with. There are lots of activities to keep you thrilled for days. Located 2 kilometers South of Osoyoos British Columbia off Highway 97 onto 32nd Avenue, Swiws Part is efficiently managed and operated by the Osoyoos Indian Band.

From time immemorial, Okanagan ancestors of the Osoyoos Indian Band have lived and cared for the waters and lands within their traditional settlement. In 2015, the Park was renamed to reflect the traditional Okanagan name for the area. Surrounded by a warm lake and sandy beaches, Haynes Point Provincial Park sits on a small land stretching into Osoyoos Lake. Since the Osoyoos Lake has the warmest water in the whole of Canada, it makes for an excellent spot for swimming, fishing, and boating.

For anyone visiting the Okanagan Valley, Haynes Point is one of the favorite sites to go to. However, if you are planning to camp, you are encouraged to book a reservation early in the season because it is usually a busy place during the summer months. The Park has 80m of boardwalk and a platform that allows you to view the beautiful lake and its surrounding. There is a limit to how long you can camp in Haynes Point and it is a maximum of 7 days.

The Swiws Park (Haynes Point) is a cultural and archaeological heritage site valued by the Okanagan people. Please, whenever you visit, endeavor to respect and take care of this culturally and historically prominent point of interest by abiding by the rules of the park. Park visitors are also reminded that the Heritage Conservative Act protects all cultural and archaeological heritage sites in the Okanagan region. This includes known or unknown, intact or disturbed, recorded or unrecorded sites.
