Penticton is the home of events. It has hosted a lot of exciting and entertaining events for a very long time which has served as a tourist attraction to people far and near. The beautiful city of Penticton has been an entertaining place to both locals and tourists for decades now. Let's look at some of those events to look out for in Penticton.
The Peach City Beach Cruise
It began in 2001 and has been an impactful event in Penticton BC. This is a family show in which hundreds of antiques, classic show cars are lined up along the popular beachfront street, Lakeshore Drive, for three days, and activities of the whole family surround the event. Live music, food and retail vendor, an outdoor beverage garden, and novelty souvenirs add a beautiful touch to the atmosphere of the festival.
The Penticton Elvis Festival
This is an amazing three days festival where thousands of artists and fans of the legendary musician, Elvis Presley, from all around the world come to perform and celebrate, paying tribute to him. This annual festival always invites VIPs who knew the star personally and shares with the audience their favorite memories of him. The former VIPs that have attended the festival include Joe Esposito, Elvis' best friend, manager, and best man; DJ Fontana, Elvis' drummer; and Red Robinson, Vancouver rock and roll celebrity. It also offers a room for dancing and a food and beverage garden which makes the festival lively and vibrant.
Although it’s been over four years since he died but his legacy and music still inspire the younger generations.
The Penticton Farmers’ Market
Located in Gyro Park, this is one of the largest markets in the Okanagan and British Columbia and has been in existence since 1991. It provides a wonderful opportunity for local farmers and craftspeople to sell their products to people. The Penticton Farmers’ Market and the downtown community market form one of the largest outdoor market events in British Columbia. This event takes place on Saturday mornings, from May to October, and sees about 8000 visitors at its peak in July-August. It creates a vibrant and social atmosphere for the locals and tourists. The Penticton farmers’ market celebrated its 30th year in operation in 2020.
The Penticton dragon boat festival
This is a water racing event with over 2500 racers and teams from across North America on the Okanagan Lake and has its home at the Skaha Lake Park. The festival was founded in 2000 and has offered an awesome beach site for racers. This is the most amazing event that takes place in September of every year.
